The 2nd Annual St. Ignace Cardboard Classic Boat Race is part of the Straits Area Watersports Weekend. Boats are constructed with cardboard and duct tape, then one team member competes in a race across a 50-foot course to the finish line. Registration 11:30am, boat building noon-1pm, race at 1pm. Call the Chamber for registration forms and rules.
"A Full Moon Kayak on the Cedar River." Experience sunset and moon rise at the Cedar River Natural Area. Take an evening kayak trip (canoes are fine too) down Victoria Creek with Leelanau Conservancy docent Alice Van Zoeren and paddle back under the light of a full moon. Meet in Cedar at the parking area near the ball diamonds. You will need to provide your own kayak or canoe.
A festival highlighting Cheboygan and the Inland Waterway. Events include a community bake sale, music fest, Churchill Classic 5K Run/Walk, Senior Citizen pig roast, Beach Boys Tribute Band, Old 27 tour and local car show and Top of Michigan Boat Races. A Beautification raffle and a concert in the park on Thursday and a lot more.
The Grand Traverse Conservation District hosts a Grand Opening Celebration of the Boardman River Nature Center. The weekend features nature education activities free for the whole family. Activities include guided nature hikes, nature crafts, green building workshops, tours of the Nature Center, native plants sessions, live birds of prey program, and much more.
The 21st Annual festival presents concerts in the park, sidewalk sales, classic car show, 5K race, arts & crafts show, Rubber Ducky Parade, Rubber Ducky Race on the river, pig roast and much more. Music downtown features the "Last Moment Band."
